It's amazing how often just the right person shows up to meet a need.  Even though it may not always seem obvious - there is a specific reason we've been called to serve.  That makes volunteering even more fun, exciting and adventurous!

Whatever your gifts, whatever your schedule, there's a place for you to serve as a Volunteer with Faith in Action.

Becoming a Volunteer
As a Volunteer, you begin your journey of service with an orientation session.  That's where you'll learn the basics of volunteering with FIA.  County and State criminal background checks, as well as motor vehicle record checks, are completed prior to assignments.  As a Volunteer you are covered by excess accident and liability insurance.  Mileage reimbursement is also offered to you.

Serving as a Volunteer
We try to taylor your volunteering experience to fit you.  You will have the opportunity to decide what types of assignments best suit you, the area within the County you would like to serve, and the times you are most generally available to serve.  As a Volunteer, you will be given assignments that fit your profile and interests, to the best of our ability.

Prior to assigning any Volunteer to a Care Receiver, the Care Receiver must undergo an assessment, determining eligibility and a specific need profile.

When you are contacted with a Volunteer opportunity, you can decide to say 'yes' or 'no'.  It's always up to you.  Upon accepting an assignment, you will be given as much background information as is needed to carry out the assignment smoothly and successfully.  You will be encouraged to contact the Care Receiver the day before the assignment to confirms times and directions.

As a Volunteer, you'll be asked to record your time and mileage once the assignment has been completed, then turned in to the FIA office once a month.  We feel like our Volunteers are part of our team, so we'll ask you to inform us of any changes or concerns you might observe concerning the Care Receiver.
Volunteer Coordinators
One special role we offer Volunteers is that of an 'open' Volunteer Coordinator Position.  Coordinators take on additional responsibilities within their community of residence, and are largely responsible for FIA's ability to serve so many people throughout Cass County.

Coordinators call upon Volunteers, within their area, to meet needs of Care Receivers, also living within their area.  They may also be trained to complete the initial Care Receiver home visit assessment, speak to local churches and/or community groups, or conduct and participate in New Volunteer Orientations.  If this is an area you're gifted in, then we need you!
